The Greatest Story Ever Told

The Greatest Story Ever Told

Director George Stevens disavowed gimmicks and, in his epic retelling of the Four Gospels of the New Testament, set this dramatization in a panoramic framework of splendidly evocative backgrounds, including the astonishing buttes of Utah. Jesus is portrayed by Max von Sydow in a difficult and highly praised performance. A huge all-star cast (including Charlton Heston as John the Baptist) animate the vast landscape of the film. Based on The Bible, Fulton Oursler’s “The Greatest Story Ever Told” and radio scripts by Henry Denker. Carl Sandburg was a Creative Associate.

  1. The fakest story ever told lmao. There's no proof Jesus even existed. The Romans kept perfect records of everything, that's how we know Mt Vesuvius erupted around noon August 24th 79 CE. Not ONE mention of a man performing miracles? lol You're in a cult if you believe otherwise.

  2. As one of Jehovah's witnesses i love this movie. I'm so thankful Jehovah send his son jesus down to die for our sins. Truly i say to you today you'll be with me in paradise. A paradise earth. Love Jehovah's witnesses.

  3. This the body of christ, believers from

You to pray for your brothers and
    Sisters lran, Afghanistan lraq and

In these places, the messiah is
    Coming, two thousand years of

  4. 1. To the Quik: "Well Done"! [John Huston & all]! RIP! Amen.
    2. To Note: Great [Structure & Organization] to the [Greatest Story Ever Told]!
    3. To the Point: The [Purpose] for [Structure & Organization] is "[To give Insight]
[where Darkness sought Light]". i.e. "[The Eyes of the Blind] shall see [Out of Darkness]."
    4. "Live Free"! [Courage & Faith], my friends. We are "under grace"! God's Love! Amen.
To Note: The [Prophecies were fulfilled] when [Jesus was 33 years of age]!

  5. As an adult now…many years ago I watched this as a child. This movie touched my heart then and even now. Through the eyes of an adult who has been a believer in the Lord Jesus for over 40 years, I see the poetic license Hollywood takes with all the Biblical inaccuracies. Read your Bible for the truth.

  6. Imagination laughs at blind actors, It is in you as a person that the nature of God is revealed, for a scriptural episode is not a record of an historical event, but a parabolic revelation of truth. To see Jesus or David as an historical character is to see truth tempered to the weakness of your soul. You must see what the characters represent, rather than the characters themselves. This is true for every story in scripture, for every episode will unfold within you.

  7. When Mary, Joseph, and Jesus passed through the crosses with the crucified bodies on them, I find that frightening considering that in a little more than 25 years, Jesus would be put to death on a Cross like those… Thank You Lord for Your Death and Resurrection. Thank You for Being Jehovah Rophe- my Healer and Jehovah Shama- my Banner and Shield and Jehovah Gireh- my Provider and Jehovah Shalom- my Peace and Jehovah Tzikenu- my Righteousness… Hallelujah…

  8. what's crazy before his crucifixion happen to have the only black man in roman help him with the cross, while the rest watch. knowing he was putting himself in jeopardy, all for the love of Christ(guess he knew his true powers)…AMEN

  9. The Greatest Story Ever Told was first released in 1965 and its with an All-Star cast and if you're waiting to see John Wayne in the movie you may have to wait close to three hours cuz he only had a cameo in that film but you'll see a lot of famous people in that film and I recommended it's a great movie icon to watch The Greatest Story Ever Told

  10. I've never seen this movie, I've been a Believer for 34 years and know the Word of GOD very well, most movies do not portray the true and accurate events of the Bible: I pray this movie is just as close to the Bible as the Ten Commandments is.

  11. What happened to no graven images? For similar reasons do i never listen to a female pastor. If you mess up on some very basic fundamantals of our doctrine… why should i then listen to you any further?

  12. I was enjoying this movie until the end first of all I love Jesus and I think of someone going to tell the story much talent from the Bible there’s a reason why you have to do that the Bible said Judis hung self and Jesus was beaten there’s a reason why because it’s fulfilling Isaiah prophecy Isaiah 53 and he was haunted for a transgression bruise for our iniquity and chastisement of our peace was upon him and by the stripes we are healed

  13. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭1:1-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    True gospel of the word.
    Read the word of Elohim.
    Yahweh Bless You All.
