Liz Cheney Assails Trump in Fiery Remarks Before GOP House Vote on Her Ouster

Republican Representative Liz Cheney said former President Donald Trump and his loyalists are undermining democracy and risk inciting more violence by persisting in their false claim of a fraudulent 2020 election.

On the eve of a vote by her fellow Republicans that is all but certain to remove her from a party leadership post, Cheney appeared on the House floor Tuesday night to drive home her message that those who refuse to accept the election results, affirmed by officials of both parties and the courts, “are at war with the Constitution.”

“Today, we face a threat America has never seen before. A former president who provoked a violent attack on this Capitol, in an effort to steal the election, has resumed his aggressive efforts to convince Americans that the election was stolen from him,” Cheney said.

“I will not sit back and watch in silence,” she added. “We must speak the truth. Our election was not stolen.”

The Wednesday morning vote by Republican House members will be done by secret ballot. Cheney’s spokesman, Jeremy Adler, said in a text message that she would not step down before the vote.

Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican, has become increasingly isolated in her party for her persistent rebuttals to Trump’s false claims. House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy has said that has become a distraction for Republicans and backs replacing her as Republican conference chair with New York Representative Elise Stefanik, a Trump loyalist.

  1. Spoken like a RINO. There now sits in the Oval Office, a decrepit old man surrounded by a cult who want to pack the Supreme Court, make Washington a State, allow men to compete against women in sports and push through agendas that won’t ever be voted on in the Senate. She is a reminder of what the GOP were and not who they ought to evolve into:

    CONSERVATISM:

“Whose freedom, how exercised, how circumscribed and how defined?”
    ~ Sir Roger Scruton

    #ShieldsHigh 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

  2. We need a new political party in this country one that will truly represent the people and will do what is right. For the rights of all. Republicans don't represent any of this anymore. Back when Lincoln was president maybe they did. But all that is a thing of the past now. Lincoln is probably rolling in his grave ashamed of what this party has become. Liz Cheney is a real republican.

  3. Lizzy,'s to Dizzy, for the Republican party. Did you forget how your father and g.w.bush trampled all over the constitution during the Iraq war. And lied about weapons of mass destruction, so much for your truth lizzy

  4. Looks like Liz was ousted because her fellow conservative colleagues really didn't like her exercising her freedom of speech, much like DeSantis in Florida, who doesn't understand the words "shall not be infringed." There goes the independent and centrist conservative votes with her. Also, I love how McCarthy will defend conservatives being "censored" by social media companies for pushing the big lie that the election was stolen, claiming their free speech rights are being violated, but will then turn around and force the recall of a prominent colleague over her criticism of Trump and dissension from the party narrative of a stolen election, then he turns around and defends the legitimacy of the election like it hasn't been the party narrative since before November.
It seems party loyalty and fealty to Trump matters more to rightists than tangible policies which would help the average American over corporations and the wealthy 1%. All they really care about is controlling the narrative, manipulating the opinions of the masses, lining their own pockets, and seizing absolute control over states and the federal government.

  5. I don't trust anyone that's so afraid to speak in public that every word that comes out of their mouths is read word for word from teleprompter or something written by some staff member, talk to the American people like you talk to your friends and family behind closed doors or find a new line of work

  6. Nothing she said was true. Trump didn't incite the riot at Capitol Hill.

    It was pre-planned

The election was stolen & as for the lawsuits they were dismissed on standing not lack of evidence. Barr and Krebs never looked at the evidence & you look at the hearings NTD news you'd know that there was evidence presented.

Biden also said that he didn't need us to get elected.

Biden ran a terrible campaign & his in his basement the majority of the time and didn't even win the Democratic nomination. According to VICE news Bernie Sanders was the real nominee & it should be obvious considering that there were Feel the Bern signs all over.

There was no excitement about Joe Biden throughout the Democratic primary, which he did poorly on.

The lawsuits were thrown out on standing not lack of evidence

  7. Is this woman for real? Everything she is saying is the opposite…YES, THE ELECTIONS WERE STOLEN! and there is massive evidence. She is talking about preserving democracy…well, start by removing the illegitimate president. She is also talking about the horrors of comunism…the irony is that this new administration's agenda is all for it. And there is a lot of information that indicates that the assault on Jan 6 was preplanned…and certainly not by Trump.

  8. Look around Liz. How many democrats are criticizing Biden's policies?
None. Any democrat talking about Biden's mental deterioration? None.
There must be at least a few that aren't complete morons and see where
all of this is going. But absolutely no dissension. Democrats have been
like this for years, yet the republicans are their own worse critics.
More honest perhaps, which fractures the party.

  9. How's living in La La land doing kids? Every Election law suite thrown out by Republican Trump appointed judges and you kids still living in La LA land no wonder this country is going down the toilet.
